Wednesday, July 7th

Kaley and I started out the day with a walk
down to our market in town. We stopped
for a snack and while we were sitting on
the sidewalk eating, 3 different people
stopped to say, "bon appetit".
This is my favorite patisserie...
although I can't find a name on it.

The girls and went in the ministry
in Axat in the mountains about 10
minutes away in the afternoon.
It was hot so we had to cool down.
We saw some people going down the
river with wetsuits..the water was ice cold.
Then we continued up in the mountains
to La Clat to buy some goat cheese.
Voila, le fromage de
chevre...surprisingly mild.

Monday, July 5th

This morning Drew and I drove
into town..I got my favorite pastry
at my favorite patisserie..a beignet.
Normalement, j'ai la framboise mais
aujourd'hui c'était la pomme.
Imagine a sugared doughnut, all
fluffy with real fruit filling.
This is a view of the river from
the other side of town.
We strolled through the Jardinerie..I
would love this windmill for my garden.
Next, we went in the ministry in
this nearby mountain town.
After the ministry we headed off to Lac
Puivert for a swim.

Saturday, July 3rd

Today is cloudy and
cooler which is nice
since the weather has been
hotter than expected
for this time of year.
This morning we went in
the ministry with our
neighbors Brian and Bev.
Most of our English group
is away in Paris for the
convention. We started with some
calls in our village.
After an hour or so...tea time.
Next we traveled
to the mountains to St.
Colombe about 20 minutes away.

We went to the French meeting in Esperaza.
After we had dinner at a little restaurant,
quite tasty. I had the Plat du Jour..onion soup,
poulet with frites, and apple tart for dessert.

Friday, July 2nd

The girls and I went into Carcassonne for the afternoon. The sales are going on in France right now and that only happens twice a year, I think the government regulates that. I had to return a power converter since it blew up..imagine a smaller Best Buy with nobody who speaks English.

Lastly, the yellow is my favorite road sign..basically means YIELD! or translates to..you don't have the priority.

Thursday, July 1st

We have been gone for 3 weeks today, my how time flies. We spent much of today deciding on our plans for next week. We were scheduled to leave for Paris today but our lodging arrangements fell through so we are going to stay put here and try to go in the middle of the month. We finished our pottery this morning and I worked on the wheel a bit.

We went for a walk at sunset which seems like about 9:45 here. We always make friends along the way, even the big dogs are friendly.  I just don't want to come across a wild boar at night.
