Wednesday, June 30th

This morning we went to our market in town
to buy more peaches and olives.
After the market, Drew and I went to this village in the mountains.

There is a Dutch woman in
town with a pottery studio so
the girls and I took a
class. Not as easy as it
looks but lots of fun.
We go on Friday to
glaze our works of art.

Tuesday, June 29th

Just a few shots I took while
in the ministry this morning with
Claire...and the third, my future house.

After that...off to Lac Montbel, a little
windy today so there were a few waves.
I think that this place is a secret, sshhhh!
No crowds, at least not yet.

Monday, June 28th

We went in the ministry this morning.
While walking on a gravel road
in the mountains and searching
for "La Rue Moulin"..we came
across a large hedge, so
we followed it. I could hear
what I thought were 2 people
talking and I could see a break
in the hedge. Imagine my surprise
when I looked through..I saw this sight....
when he came around to meet
us, Claire said "camera, camera.."
so I snapped a few photos quickly.

Just a few more pics taken while in
the territory.

Sunday, June 27th

This morning we went to a
'Vide Grenier' or attic sale
in the mountain village of
Arques. I practiced maitrise
de soi(self-control) and
didn't buy anything.
Drew found a Bodum teapot
for 3 euros..not bad.

Next we went to the nearby town of Esperaza for the
large market. We bought cherries and curry sauce, not to eat together of course.

In the afternoon Jean-Claude and Claudia
came over and it stormed.

Saturday, June 26th

Saturday morning we
went to the market
here in Quillan. We
bought olives..just
like the Whole Foods
olive bar for 5 euros
a kilo, about $2.50 a
pound. I told Kaley
she could eat all the
olives she wanted to.

Kaley loves peaches.

Our meeting is at 6:30 and about an hour's drive one-way. Afterward we were tired and hungry. We decided to search for a place to eat. We chose this little spot in the square in the square of downtown Carcassonne.

These are the choices... I was pretty
certain from my memory of Latin
medical terms that the top
one was bone (of something)..
not in the mood for that tonight.

A man across
from us who also was a little
challenged with the French
language as well ordered
the bone thing, which
came with some grilled
bread. He and his girlfriend
were giggling. I settled
on the veggie lasagna and
an italian tomato salad,
safe choice and yummy.
Drew had the ratatouille..
served chilled.
Interessant.

Lac Montbel

It is finally getting warmer
here in the South of France.
It was about 30 degrees Celsius
today (90 ish F). This is a
lake in the mountains with
a clay bank and cool, clear water.

After the lake we went
preaching in the mountains
in a town called Bugarach.
 There are fig trees everywhere,
they will be ripe in September.

Wednesday, June 22nd

Today is girls day in Carcassonne
with our friend Gathiya. First downtown
for a bit of browsing, then coffee,
then to the medieval castle in Carcassonne.
The Cathare history is very interesting
as well as the restoration efforts that took
place around 1850. Gathiya works here
so we had a mini-tour.

It was a really windy day..typical
for Carcassonne.
